Funfest

Funfest is an annual music competition that has been held at various locations across southern Ontario for over 25 years. This competition includes students of all ages and levels  from  studios across southern Ontario.  Funfest is by far the largest competition that the Ontario Music Teachers Guild offers its students. There are categories for all ages and skill levels. This ensures that the students compete against other students at the same age and level  that they are. Our goal for Funfest is to give every participant real world playing experience in a fun and exciting way.

The date for Funfest is Sunday July 19, 2015.

Celebrating 20 Years in Oakville!

Did you know we have been in Oakville since October of 1994?  Yep, and to celebrate we are planning a big party the weekend of June 5, 2015. There will cool prizes, teacher performances, food, and fun.  Even the Mayor in coming!  Stay tuned for more info…

New Student Benefits Cards

In the next few months we will be rolling out a new program designed to make your experience with Academy of Music even better.  Every family will receive a benefits card.  These new benefits cards will have instant discounts, deals, or incentives from other local Oakville businesses.  Each business will offer something extra just for being an Academy of Music student.

If you have a business in Oakville and you would like to participate please call Academy and we’ll add you to the program.  There is no charge.   A few of the businesses that are on board so far are:

“I am in my late fifties and have loved the sound of violin for many years and always promised myself that I would learn one day. I finally signed up in September 2014 at the Academy of Music and they matched me with Gail who is a wonderful teacher and great violinist. My first class was overwhelming as I couldn’t even read music. However I was so determined that the following week I self taught myself to read notes and after a few weeks I could even play a few songs. I am totally dedicated and Gail knows how to motivate me and she is great at teaching the proper technique. She will notice little things with my posture, my arm movement, and my fingers and she will make sure that I correct myself promptly to avoid bad habits. I know that I will be with the Academy for a long haul because my passion for the violin is growing day by day.”  Danielle Parent- Oakville Ontario

Is Your Teacher Sold Out?

Many of our teachers have sold out between the hours 4 pm – 8 pm. If you need a schedule change or would like to be added to a waiting list for a particular teacher, day or time, please contact our office and we can add you to the waiting list.
