POP FOR PUPS! (and kittens too)
Play a song and raise money for the Oakville/Milton Humane Society
On Saturday August 23rd you are invited to perform at the Academy of Music’s 1st annual Pop for Pups fund raising concert. The objective is to give students the opportunity to play music that they don’t usually play at the Spring and Winter recitals, and help support the Oakville/Milton Humane Society. The only rule is that you my not play any classical music of any kind. You may play pop, rock, jazz, celtic, etc.
Tickets are $10 each at the door and 100% of the profits will go to the directly to the Humane Society. Learn more about the Humane Society at www.omhs.ca.
The event will be held at the Pic-a-Deli Restaurant at 670 Fourth Line in Oakville. The performance times will depend on the amount of students involved.
In addition to YOUR performance we will enjoy a set of rock and pop songs by the Flaming Llamas (an Academy of Music student rock band) and several members of the Oakville/Georgetown Celtic Fiddle Orchestras.
All students are encouraged to participate. Don’t forget to ask your teacher what you are playing.

How does it work in the summer? Please clarify…
In the last couple of months we have had dozens of people ask if they need to notify the school if they plan to continue in the summer.
The Academy of Music is a 12 month school so you don’t need to sign up for summer lessons.
We do require one month’s notice from the beginning of the month if you plan to withdraw from lessons. This notice period is to allow enough time for the school to fill your spot with a new student or allow a current student to come at a more convenient time for them.
