Academy Teachers Perform for Food4Kids Halton!
On Friday March 31, 2017 St. Cuthbert’s Anglican Church in Oakville with be filled with music, as teachers from the Academy of Music perform to help feed well deserving kids in Halton. The Academy is hosting their first annual Faculty concert to support Food 4 Kids. – a non-profit organization that provides packages of healthy food for kids aged 4-14 years with limited or no access to food each weekend. In addition to live music from many of the teachers, the event will feature a 50/50 draw, and a chance to meet the teachers over juice and cookies.
Admission to the concert is a free will offering to go directly to Food 4 Kids.
Academy of Music Director James Franczek, now into his 23rd year with the school saw an opportunity to use the Academy and its talented music teachers to do even more for the community. “I have two young boys myself and I can’t imagine them having to go without food. Many of us take it for granted that we will always have supper on the table” Mr. Franczek states. “This is a great way for us to do what we do best, and support an amazing organization.”
There will be amazing performances on piano, guitar, voice, and violin from many of your favorite teachers!
About Food 4 Kids
Food4Kids provides food packages of healthy food for children with limited or no food during weekend periods. Packages of healthy food are prepared by volunteers and delivered to schools each Friday to ensure children have nourishment over the weekend. There are 400 kids in Halton struggling through each weekend without food. Help fight child hunger in our own community. When kids leave school for the weekend, they should not have to worry about how they will be fed.
* food items are packed by volunteers and delivered to schools every Friday
* at the school, the food package is placed discreetly into the student’s own backpack helping to shield the child from any stigma associated with hunger or receiving food assistance
* each child in the home receives their own food package
* programs are 100% funded by community donations and one-time grants

Celebrating Music Student Achievement!
The Academy of Music is the only music school in Oakville and Georgetown that gives their students the opportunity to earn special color wristband bracelets (kids and teens love them!), trophies AND certificates for passing musical tests. Do other schools offer certificates? A few. But none of them inspire their students by giving them full color, really cool “Musical Ladder” 
wristbands that they can show off to their friends.
More importantly when our students have a challenge coming up, they practice more, their parents are proud, their
teachers are proud, and everybody wins!

Tecla wanted a pet for a very long time! We got her after Christmas, she is almost 4 months old and Tecla named her Mia. Tecla loves her a lot but sometimes she complains Mia bites and scratches too much when she wants to play!!
